informative site that is also well-researched, no small feat given the paucity of good historical information
on paper fasteners.
The Early Office Museum has a stapler page as well as a store
and pages for many other types of early office technology.
Robert De Barth's site sell refills for, and has
information about Bates wire staplers and Bates Eyelet Machines.
Yesterday's Office is a site that features a forum and many articles
covering vintage office technology.
The Stapler Database is an older site with a mixed bag of
stapler information, some of it accurate.

The Ace Fastener Company still makes the Pilot and Clipper staplers that
remain virtually unchanged since their introduction over 1/2 century ago.
The Acme Staple Company has been in the paper fastening business since 1894
when they introduced the Acme Sure Shot Staple Binder.
Acco Brands boasts a pretty impressive pedigree. For starters, they own
the Swingline and Wilson Jones (former maker of the Tatum aluminum stapler)
brands. In addition, they can trace their roots all the way back to 1894 - starting with the Jones Mfg.
Company, maker of the Star Paper Fastener. Jones Mfg became the E. H. Hotchkiss Co., which was acquired by
the Vail Manufacturing Company of Chicago, which in turn was acquired by Acco in 1965.
The Arrow Fastener Company still makes a few paper staplers
but offers a variety of other fastening equipment.
Founded in 1896 as The Boston Wire Stitcher Company,
Bostitch is now owned by the Stanley
Works of New Britain, CT. Bostitch manufactures fastening products for the office, industry, and construction
trades.
Although they no longer make paper staplers, Duo-Fast (former maker of
the Duo-Fast Pocket Stapler) is still in the fastening business. They now make hammer tackers, staple guns, and a
variety of pneumatic fasteners.
The GBC Commercial and Consumer Group
owns the Bates brand and still makes paper staplers.
The Markwell Company was founded in 1919 by Abe and Lou Obstfeld,
two brothers who had previous experience in the printing and marking industry. The first Markwell products were crayons
and marking devices - hence the name: "Mark-well." Today, the company is located in Norwood, MA and manufactures
office stapling products, specialized hand stapling tools, and other stapling and fastening related products, as well
as shipping room supplies and equipment.
